Built for everyone

Accessibility Statement

Last updated June 2026

Belonging means access. We want every person, including disabled people and people using assistive technology, to be able to use this site and join us. If something gets in your way, tell us and we will fix it.

Access is part of our mission, not an afterthought. We build and maintain this website with accessibility in mind, and we treat it as ongoing work rather than a box to check.

What we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, and we reach for the stricter Level AAA wherever it is practical, especially for text contrast and clear language. These guidelines, set by the international web standards community, are the benchmark for making the web usable for everyone.

What we have done

  • A “skip to content” link and proper page landmarks, so keyboard and screen-reader users can move quickly.
  • Full keyboard operability, with a clear, high-contrast outline showing where you are.
  • Meaningful headings and structure that describe the page in order.
  • Color contrast that meets AA across the site, and AAA for the text that matters most.
  • Text descriptions for meaningful images, so they make sense without sight.
  • Respect for the “reduce motion” setting: if your device asks for less animation, we honor it.
  • A layout that reflows and stays readable when you zoom in or use a small screen.
  • Plain, direct language, and we never rely on color alone to carry meaning.

Where we are still working

We want to be honest about the gaps:

  • Giving happens on an outside service (Zeffy). We chose it carefully, but its accessibility is not fully in our control.
  • Older photos or documents may not yet have complete text descriptions. We are improving these over time.
  • At the festival itself, we are working to secure ASL interpretation for the main stage and continue to expand on-the-ground access.

Access at our events, too

Accessibility is not only a website concern. At the festival you will find ADA restrooms and parking, a quiet and sensory space, family and chest-feeding facilities, and first aid. If you need something we have not listed, just ask, before or during the day, and we will do our best. You can see the details on our festival page.

Tell us how we are doing

If you run into a barrier on this site, or anywhere in our work, we genuinely want to hear it. It helps us fix the thing for you and for the next person.

Email contact@austinmnpride.org and, if you can, include:

  • the page or link where it happened,
  • what you were trying to do, and
  • the device, browser, or assistive technology you were using.

We aim to reply within a few days and to find a way to get you what you need in the meantime. You can also reach us by mail at Austin, MN Pride, Austin, MN 55912.
