Your privacy
Privacy Policy
The short version: we collect as little as possible, only what we need to run our events, review applications, and reply to you. We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used. We never sell or rent your information, and we do not use advertising trackers.
Austin, MN Pride (“we,” “us”) is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Austin, Minnesota. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, why, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, please email us and we will explain it in plain language.
Information we collect
When you RSVP to an event
If you reserve a spot for an event through our site, we collect the details you enter, typically your name and email address, and any notes or accessibility requests you choose to share. We use this to confirm your spot, send you details about that event, and plan for the people who are coming.
When you contact us
If you email us or write to us, we keep your message and contact details so we can respond and follow up. We only use them for that conversation.
When you volunteer or apply
Volunteer sign-ups and festival booth, food-vendor, and entertainment applications happen right here on this website. We collect what the form asks for, typically your name and contact details, information about your business or act, and any documents the application requires (such as certificates of insurance or Minnesota ST-19 forms). We use it to review your application, plan the festival, and stay in touch about your booth, set, or shift, and it is seen only by the organizers who need it to do that.
When you give
Donating and sponsoring happen on Zeffy, a trusted third-party giving platform, not on this website. The information you provide there is collected by Zeffy under its own privacy policy. See “Services we rely on” below.
What the website itself collects
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to see, in aggregate, how people find and use the site so we can improve it. It sets cookies and records usage data such as the pages you view, your general location, and your device and browser. Google does not store your IP address; we do not use this data for advertising, sell it, or build profiles of individual visitors. Our own team members are not tracked, and you can opt out on every site with Google’s opt-out browser add-on. Aside from Analytics, our host may keep basic, short-lived server logs (such as IP addresses) to keep the site secure and running, and essential cookies are set only if a staff member logs in to manage the site.
How we use your information
- To run our events and confirm RSVPs.
- To review vendor, performer, and volunteer applications and plan the festival.
- To reply to your messages and requests.
- To keep you updated about an event you signed up for, or our work, if you have asked us to.
- To meet our legal and reporting obligations as a nonprofit.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Ever.
Services we rely on
To do our work with a small volunteer team, we use a few outside services. When you use them, your information is handled under their privacy policies, not ours:
- Zeffy for donations and sponsorships.
- Google Analytics for privacy-respecting, aggregate website statistics.
- Google (Gmail) for our email, handled under Google’s privacy policy.
- Facebook and Instagram, where we post and where you can follow us.
- Our hosting provider, which stores the website securely on our behalf.
We choose partners we believe handle data responsibly, but we encourage you to read their policies before sharing information with them.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was given, or as long as the law requires, and then we delete it. Event RSVP lists, for example, are not kept indefinitely after the event has passed.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you what information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can also ask us to stop emailing you at any time. Just email us and we will take care of it.
Children’s privacy
Our events are for all ages, and families are welcome. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this website without a parent or guardian’s involvement. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Links to other sites
This site links out to partners, resources, and support organizations. Once you leave our site, their privacy practices apply, not ours. We share crisis and support resources for your benefit and do not receive any information about how you use them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the “last updated” date above. Significant changes will be noted clearly.
